Lulya Michael VP External Candidate
Hi! I am Lulya Michael, I am a third year student studying neuroscience. I moved to Lethbridge from Calgary. Something that I have loved doing for the past year is working as a behavioural coach with children. I have found that it has been an interesting and amazing way to apply the knowledge I have acquired over the time of doing my degree. One of my other many interests is that I am a big fan of The Weeknd and this is because he is such an amazing artist and performer, and getting to see such huge representation of someone of my culture is truly empowering. I carry this same enthusiasm on my journey to take on a bigger role and be a voice for students beyond the boundaries of our campus as a VP External candidate. I believe in the power of students to make a difference, and I am ready to work hard to represent our interests and make our voices heard.

What are some of the initiatives you would like to implement if you are elected?
1. I will put first initiatives that promote students’ participation in decision making, create a wider platform for their voices to be heard, and interests are catered for to the best of my ability. ? 2. I will advocate for policies that will help our students succeed, thrive and feel accommodated for. This entails creating awareness among the external bodies of some of the problems students face such as financial issues, academic stress, lack of resources among others which can be addressed through consultation with university administrators and other stakeholders outside the university.? 3. Working with external stakeholders, I am going to advocate for affordable student housing on-campus and off-campus. As well as, exploring creative ideas to mitigate transportation issues that are seen among students. ? 4. Lastly, I am going to support employed learners’ initiatives while making it easier for them to plan their careers. These involve promoting internships, co-op programs as well as career fairs also facilitating resources needed by students to acquire essential skills when entering into the workforce post graduation. ?
