Axel Brett ORS - VP Parkway Candidate
Hello, my name is Axel Brett, and I am honoured to run for VP Parkway. I am a fourth-year History and Museum Studies student, who has served as a Piikani House Residence Assistant for the past year. For my first three years as a student, I lived in Blakiston East. During my time there, I fell in love with the university and the people who live on campus. The chance to give back to my community has always excited me. In the past, I have volunteered with FCSS Food Banks and worked with the Rotaract Club here on campus. These experiences have not only taught me how to organize and improve my community but also the ability to adapt to the ever-changing needs of people. When not working on my classes, or with housing services, I am an avid fan of playing and collecting board games, and can often be found running board game nights with my friends. This includes Dungeons and Dragons, and other tabletop roleplaying games, which I frequently organize. I am also a diehard Saskatchewan Roughriders fan, eagerly awaiting the start of the next season. On campus, I am also involved in the Lethbridge Smash Bros. Club, where I regularly compete with (and often lose as) my favourite Character Incineroar. I look forward to showing everyone why I’d be best for VP Parkway.

What are some of the initiatives you would like to implement if you are elected?
As a poor student, I understand that the cost of living has become a struggle for many students. If I were to become VP Parkway, I would work to combat these costs whenever possible. This would be by reducing the number and expense of laundry, and other micropayments around campus. This would also include expanding health and wellness programs in Parkway, such as food collection and mental health events. As VP, my goal would be to make Parkway as safe, and pleasant as possible. I will make it my mission to ease the difficulties of university life. In addition, I aim to better connect the parts of Parkway through events and community outreach. Having lived in Blakiston for 3 years, I know that it’s easy to feel distant from the rest of campus. As such, I would like to focus next year on events that bring Blakiston, the townhomes, and the village together. I want to make Parkway a place where people feel a sense of connectedness to each other and where events will be both enjoyable and accessible. I hope that you will consider me during this month’s election season.
