Ankit M. DSB Representative

Headshot of Ankit M.

My name is Ankit, and I am honored to announce my candidacy for the role of Dhillon School of Business Representative at the University of Lethbridge Students’ Union. As a second-year undergraduate in BMgt Finance, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the University of Lethbridge and have taken an active part in various initiatives. Most notably, I have served as the Executive Vice President of the Dhillon Business Students’ Association, which is one of the largest and oldest student clubs on campus. Additionally, I work remotely as a part time Project Manager at a marketing firm based in the states, where I have acquired a lot of experience in marketing. Aside from that I consider myself a Flames fan, a skilled cook and love country music. I look forward to serving you as your academic representative and fulfilling my duties diligently.

As the DSB representative, my primary responsibility would be to ensure that the voices of the students at the Dhillon School of Business are heard by the Student Union. This requires a deep understanding of the academic and administrative structures of the school, as well as an ability to articulate the concerns and suggestions of the students to the appropriate decision-makers.

I have spent the last few years immersing myself in the academic environment of the DSB, both as a student and as a member of the Dhillon Business Students’ Association. This has given me a unique perspective on the needs and aspirations of the students in the school, as well as the challenges that they face on a daily basis. In addition to this, I have also actively engaged with the Students Union and its representatives in the past. This has given me a valuable insight into the workings of the SU and the role it plays in advocating for the interests of the student body.

As a candidate for the position of DSB Representative at the ULSU, I have several initiatives that I would like to implement if elected. These include:

1. Building stronger relationships between the students and faculty members in the Business School: I believe that fostering stronger relationships between the students and faculty members in the DSB is essential to the success of the School. I would like to organize more networking events, guest lectures, and mentorship programs that would enable students to interact with faculty members and learn from their experiences.

2. Increasing access to academic resources: I believe that access to academic resources is critical to the success of students in the Business School. Therefore, I would like to work with the Student Union and the School administration to increase access to academic resources such as textbooks, online journals, and study spaces.

3. Organizing more professional development workshops: As a Business School student, I understand the importance of developing professional skills that are necessary for success in the workplace. Therefore, I would like to work closely with the DSB clubs and Student Professional Development to organize more workshops that would enable students to develop these skills, such as resume writing, interview skills, and networking.
