Emi Mundell Arts & Science Representative

My name is Emi Mundell. I am currently in my second year at the University of Lethbridge, studying Psychology. I was born and raised in Lethbridge. Growing up I always had a passion for getting involved with school spirit and leadership-based activities. Outside of the academic world, I spend my time competing in Olympic Weightlifting, coaching youth strength and conditioning programs, and am often found drinking iced coffee at local coffee shops. When I started university, I knew I had to get involved somehow so when I heard about the Students’ Union, I knew that was the path for me. During the past two years, I have fortunately been elected as the First Year Representative (23/24 academic year) and an Arts and Science Representative (24/25 academic year). Since then, I have sat on multiple external committees across the university to advocate for students directly to the University Governance. As well as many internal ULSU committees focused on providing students necessities like food security and mental health resources. Alongside committee work, I am often participating and lending a hand in organizing ULSU events! Some of my favourites being, the Arts and Science Trivia Night, Dirty Bingo, Cabarets, and Fresh Fest! I love hanging out with people and am always down to chat, if you see me around come say hi!
What do you know about the position you are running for?
What are some of the initiatives you would like to implement if you are elected?
With my two years experience in the ULSU as a First Year Representative and as an Arts and Science Representative, I am committed to using my knowledge and experience to continue representing the Arts and Science students. If this past year has taught me anything, it’s that students need support. As a psychology major, I understand how confusing it can be to navigate through your studies especially during the world today. With the ongoing food security crisis and an uprise in mental health crisis, life has become very challenging. Students need to feel secure in their everyday life to thrive in their academics. As an Arts and Science Representative I want to help advocate for your needs so you can get through your studies with as little stress as possible. I will actively advocate for my fellow students needs to be met across the university, one concern specifically being continuing my advocacy efforts towards ensuring better Academic Advising within the Faculty Arts and Science. With my experience from the past two years, I know I can represent those across our students effectively. As your Arts and Science representative, I am committed to advocating for you and your needs as a student.
