Praise Ibojie President

My name is Praise Ibojie and I'm a third-year Marketing Major. I sell suits, organize events, make music, and work security for the University's pub, the Zoo.
My academic journey hasn't exactly been a straight path. It consists of failing diplomas in high school, getting into fights, having my offer to this university rescinded, attempting to stay enrolled using the open studies program, and ultimately dropping out regardless in just my first semester. After a 2-year hiatus, I would eventually return via open studies, get my grades up, and finally decide on what I wanted to do with myself, landing me in Marketing.
I've never been the most academically-gifted of students, but for the first time in my life, I feel like I'm genuinely enjoying school. I want to extend that feeling to someone else. I believe that taking on this role is not only a chancefor me to further my own personal-growth, but also inspire others that are somewhat like me, and believe in what I represent; not giving up on yourself.
My personal projects speak for themselves. I have the skillset necessary for the job as well as the willingness to be refined. As of late, I can't help but see a challenge as an opportunity to grow, and I intend on using this mindset to contribute to something much bigger than myself.
What do you know about the position you are running for?
What are some of the initiatives you would like to implement if you are elected?
As Student Life Vice President, I believe my main priority is continuing to increase student engagement. What that means to me is planning innovative events, aiding our school clubs, catering to students, and overall, just ensuring that students can have an enjoyable University experience.
Over the last couple years, I've garnered a lot of relative work experience in regards to directing events outside of our campus and I've come to see quite a bit of success. Around this time last year, a couple friends and I got bored- That's all- So we took it upon ourselves to make something happen. On March 22nd, 2024, we closed out the school year by resuscitating what used to be known as Club Lime. We brought it back to life, restoring their reputation. So when the fall semester came upon us, I think it was only right that they teamed up with us to debut their new name; Pulse Nightclub.
For all 3 events thrown in 2024, we shutdown their venue, exceeding their fire capacity each time. Now in 2025 and 2026, I intend on doing the exact same thing, just in different places.
I plan on translating these expertise to the school by coming up with innovative events to foster engagement. Bringing the same type of creative events that I've organized outside of the school, to the school, such as a Traffic Light Parties for our Valentine's Day's and catering to students, via free food.
That being said; as someone that understands the struggles of running an operation, one of my first order's of business will be increasing funding for our school's clubs. $275 per semester is simply not enough to do what you need to do.
I believe this is hindering our clubs. Our school clubs are a critical pillar of our University, they offer students spaces where they can belong and express their identity. I believe that our clubs being unable to function as they should is contributing to our widespread feeling of lack, regarding the university experience. Ensuring that our clubs are adequately funded is a key component to fostering engagement.
