Kimoya Edwards Vice President Academic

Headshot of Kimoya Edwards

Oki! My name is Kimoya Edwards, and I use she/her pronouns. I am a fourth-year student
majoring in Neuroscience, minoring in Anthropology and I am running to be your 2025-2026
Vice President Academic (VPA). Balancing athletics, academics, and leadership is no small feat,
but I am ready to work tirelessly to represent all 7,528 undergraduate students. My decision to
run was made with deep consideration, passion, and a strong commitment to student advocacy
and I am excited to run to be an executive member on the 59th council of the University of
Lethbridge Students’ Union (ULSU). I am a dedicated and passionate student with the desire to
dedicate my term to the enhancement of the student experience, advocating for students’
rights and increasing the ULETH presence within the University and Lethbridge community as
well as Canada as a whole. I passionately believe that effective advocacy and unity in working
together will create a stronger ULETH community that can stand against any storm.

This past year I had the opportunity to serve as one of your Arts & Science Representatives. I
have attended a diverse array of events that represent different areas of student life as well as
fulfilling obligations of my role which have been beneficial in broadening my knowledge of what
it is to be a student, advocating for persistent student issues and ensuring that your voices are
heard. Currently I hold leadership and executive roles in clubs and teams namely, Vice President
of the ULETH Rotaract and ULBSA club, Captain of the Pronghorn Track and Field Team, member
of the Pronghorn Athletic Council and a Researcher’s Assistant in the Gibb Lab. I am also a
member of the Pre-Med and Neuro club. I plan to work tirelessly to support all undergraduate
students in all areas by ensuring that whatever room, table or discussion I am a part of, you, the
students, are the central focus of the conversation.

If elected, I will prioritize student concerns, advocate at all levels of government, and ensure
that every decision I make keeps students at the center. Together, we can build a stronger
ULETH community that empowers and supports every undergraduate student.
Let’s make ULETH a home where your voices are heard!

What do you know about the position you are running for?

What are some of the initiatives you would like to implement if you are elected?

As your Vice President Academic (VPA), I will lead through action, not just promises, by making your concerns my priority. I am committed to ensuring that student voices are at the centre of every discussion I take part in. My campaign represents the collective needs of undergraduate students, not just my own views. You can trust me to listen, advocate, and fight for your academic rights in spaces where your voice may not always be heard. With four years of experience at the University—both as a student-athlete and an active participant in the arts—I understand the challenges students face. I’ve seen firsthand how academic and mental stress impact student well-being, and my platform is built on concrete action plans to reduce these barriers and enhance the student experience. As your former Arts & Science Representative and as a fellow student, your concerns drive me to act. My platform is built on three key pillars: academic excellence, student success and equity & accessibility. Academic Excellence Every student deserves the opportunity to excel, but learning paces vary. I will expand academic support by increasing access to free tutoring, peer mentorship, and flexible academic advising hours. I will also advocate for recorded lectures and open educational resources (OERs) like using formats that to enhance learning flexibility and reduce costs. Student Success Success goes beyond academics—it includes mental health, career readiness, and overall well being. I will: Advocate for academic flexibility, including reasonable deadlines and policies that reduce unnecessary stress. Promote mental health initiatives, especially during exam periods, to support students emotionally and physically. Expand co-op, research, and career development opportunities to better prepare students for life after university. Equity & Accessibility Every student should feel supported and included in their learning environment. I will: Push for more inclusive curricula that represent diverse perspectives. Expand accommodations for students with disabilities, including better note-taking services and deadline flexibility. Promote Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to ensure all students can thrive. Enhance international student support, including academic and language resources. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive ULETH where every student has the resources to succeed!
