What do you know about the position you are running for?

What are some of the initiatives you would like to implement if you are elected?

Stepping into a new country, a new culture, and a new academic environment is both exciting and overwhelming. As an international student myself, I know firsthand the challenges we face—navigating unfamiliar systems, balancing academic rigor with the complexities of life abroad, and trying to find a sense of community in a place that is still so new. These experiences have shaped my journey, and now I want to use that understanding to help others like me.

That’s why I’m running for the position of International Representative: to ensure that the voices of international students are not only heard but that we are truly supported in every aspect of our university experience.

My vision for this role is clear: I aim to cultivate an environment where international students feel valued, respected, and equipped to succeed both academically and personally. Every international student should have access to the resources and opportunities they need to flourish, and I am committed to making that a reality.

A key priority of mine will be to enhance the support systems available to international students. I will push for more comprehensive orientation programs that address not only academic challenges but also cultural transitions. This includes advocating for expanded language and writing support to help international students thrive in their coursework.

I'm also aware of the mental health struggles that many of us face while adjusting to life in a new country. I will advocate for mental health resources that are accessible, culturally sensitive, and tailored to the needs of international students. It’s crucial that we all feel comfortable seeking support when necessary.

I’m passionate about fostering a campus culture that celebrates the richness of our diverse backgrounds.

I understand the financial challenges many of us face as well. I will advocate for increased access to scholarships and financial aid opportunities specifically for international students. I also have a vision to create an alumni network workshop specifically for our international alumni. This would provide a unique opportunity for former students to reconnect with the university, share their experiences, and guide those of us currently pursuing our degrees. By creating this bridge between alumni and current international students, we can foster mentorship, career advice, and a lasting sense of community. that extends far beyond graduation Finally, I believe in the power of transparency and communicaiton. I will be accessible to every international student, regularly providing updates on important issues, listening to your concerns, and making sure that your voices are heard.
