Rikin Patel Dhillon School of Business Representative
As a fourth-year Finance student at the Dhillon School of Business, I am excited to run for the position of Dhillon School of Business Representative in the 2025 Students' Union election. Having previously served in the Students' Union in a different capacity, I understand the critical role that student leaders play in shaping policies and initiatives that directly impact the student experience.
My time in student leadership has given me firsthand experience in advocating for students and contributing to meaningful decisions. Now, I am eager to bring a more focused effort to my faculty, ensuring that our voices are heard, our concerns are addressed, and our opportunities for growth and success are maximized.
If elected, I will work to foster stronger connections between students and faculty, advocate for academic and career development initiatives, and enhance student engagement within our faculty. I am committed to representing the interests of Dhillon students and ensuring that our collective needs and aspirations are reflected in university decisions.
I look forward to the opportunity to serve you once again and make a lasting impact on our business school community. Let's work together to build a stronger, more connected, and opportunity-driven environment for all.
What do you know about the position you are running for?
What are some of the initiatives you would like to implement if you are elected?
As a fourth-year Finance student at the Dhillon School of Business, I am committed to enhancing student experiences and ensuring our voices are heard. My platform focuses on three key areas: Career Development & Academia, Advocacy & Representation, and Student Support & Success.
Over the past semesters, the Dhillon School of Business has hosted valuable career development events and keynote speakers, yet student turnout remains low. Many students are unaware of the benefits these events offer, and few courses incentivize participation. I will work to improve event marketing and collaborate with faculty to integrate these opportunities into coursework, ensuring greater engagement and career readiness.
Advocacy and representation are at the heart of effective student leadership. Through active involvement in clubs and strong connections with students from diverse backgrounds, I have gained insights into common challenges, including access to student services, academic resources, and university facilities. My prior experience in student governance has provided me with the skills to effectively advocate for Dhillon students while maintaining a strong relationship with university administration to push for meaningful changes.
Finally, student support and success must be a priority. The Dhillon School of Business represents a significant portion of the student body, yet job opportunities through Career Bridge remain limited. I aim to work collaboratively with stakeholders to expand employment and internship opportunities by strengthening connections with local businesses and corporate partners. Ensuring that Dhillon students have access to career pathways, networking events, and mentorship programs is essential for long-term success.
I am eager to represent you and drive impactful change. Vote Rikin for the Dhillon School of Business Representative to create a stronger, more connected, and opportunity-driven student community
