Clay Bryden Dhillon School of Business Representative

Headshot of Clay Bryden

Hello everyone, my name is Clay Bryden, and I am the current head of the Dhillon Business Students Association (DBSA). I’m a fourth-year Marketing major with a minor in New Media. Community engagement has always been one of my biggest passions. Whether it was coaching my local track team in my small hometown of Vermilion or leading the DBSA through major events, I’ve always loved bringing people together. Our last thrift drive was a huge success, with over 300 pieces of clothing sold to students, and I’ve been involved in raising money for Chillin’ for Charity for multiple years. Over the past three years with the DBSA, I’ve learned how to balance my voice with those of my peers, lead a team, and ensure that everyone is heard. I’ve also gained valuable experience working with different organizations both within and outside the university. I collaborated with SWAP (the Student Wellness Ambassador Program) to spread holiday cheer with a gingerbread house contest and partnered with the Rotaract Club for our most recent clothing drive. Recently, I challenged myself to start hosting a podcast called The Corner Booth, where I interview student leaders who are making an impact on campus. My goal is to help them promote their initiatives and the projects they’ve worked so hard on. If elected, I would focus on three key areas:

1. Strengthening Collaboration Between the Student Union and Clubs Students shouldn’t have to choose between attending a Student Union (SU) event or a club-hosted event. To foster better cooperation, I would work to integrate club events with the SU’s initiatives. One solution is a shared Calendly account, where all clubs could access a central calendar that includes SU events, Dhillon School of Business (DSB) events, and other club activities. This would improve coordination and ensure students don’t have to miss out on opportunities due to scheduling conflicts.

2. Improving My Experience Transcript Integration The My Experience Transcript is a valuable tool for students to access DSB workshops, networking events, and galas. However, with busy schedules filled with classes, labs, group projects, and simulations, many students either don’t know about these opportunities or lack the proper incentives to attend. I want to work with students to make this resource more accessible and better advertised, ensuring they can take advantage of the skills and experiences available to them.

3. Expanding Math Help Sessions to Include Finance and Accounting Currently, math help sessions focus on economics, but business students also struggle with finance and accounting. Expanding these sessions to include support for these subjects would provide students with the academic help they need the most. I’m excited about the opportunity to make a difference and advocate for positive changes that benefit all students. Let’s build a stronger, more connected campus together!
