Rylee Wevers Arts & Science Representative

Headshot of Rylee Wevers

My name is Rylee Wevers, and I am running to be your Arts & Science Representative because I believe in fostering a stronger, more connected university community. You may have seen me through the Student Wellness Ambassador Program (SWAP), as President of the Psychology Club, or as the Canadian Psychological Association's Undergraduate Representative. Throughout my time at the University, I have been deeply involved in student advocacy, wellness initiatives, research, and volunteer work, and I want to bring that experience to ULSU. As President of the Psychology Club, I have organized community-focused events like volunteering opportunities, information sessions promoting transparency with students, and wellness initiatives to help students connect beyond the classroom. Additionally, I serve as a Student Wellness Ambassador (SWAP), providing peer support and promoting mental health initiatives on campus. Through my involvement in student groups, I've heard concerns about the need for more consistent communication whether about events, resources, or opportunities. If elected, I will work to improve communication between the ULSU, students, and student organizations, ensuring everyone has the information needed to fully engage with campus life. I also work as a tutor with the Accessible Learning Centre, advocating for academic accessibility and student success. Beyond leadership, I am involved in research with the Ekstrand Neuroimaging Lab in the Neuroscience Department, exploring brain and behavior from both scientific and student perspectives. I also volunteer in the psychiatric unit, witnessing the importance of mental health support. These experiences have shaped my commitment to improving mental health resources, academic policies, and student support systems at U of L. I am passionate about reviving school spirit, strengthening student connections, and ensuring every Arts & Science student has a voice. If elected, I will work to create more opportunities for collaboration, increase mental health support, and advocate for better academic policies.
