Alejandro Figueroa President

Oki and Hello everyone! My name is Alejandro, and I am running to be your next ULSU President. I am in my third year pursuing a B.Sc. in Kinesiology with a minor in Neuroscience and Sociology. Outside of academics, I am a sprinter for the Pronghorns Track and Field Team and serve as an Arts & Science Representative for the Student Union.
I am passionate about student advocacy, community engagement, and fostering connections on and off campus. I have taken on leadership roles as the Vice President of Rotaract, Vice President of Logistics & Finance for WUSC, Varsity Athlete Ambassador for Kin in the Kommunity, and a member of the Student Wellness Ambassador Program under counseling services. I also work on campus as a STEM instructor, where I introduce students to the exciting world of science.
Beyond campus, I love working in the community through volunteering and coaching. I am the head sprints coach for the Lethbridge Track and Field Club and District 51 and the cross-country coach for ELV. My goal as a coach has always been to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all athletes, fostering both personal and athletic growth.
When I’m not busy with school, work, or volunteering, you can find me yapping with friends, bouldering, hiking, cooking, or planning my next travel adventure. I am incredibly excited about this campaign and the opportunity to create a stronger, more connected, and more supportive student experience. I can’t wait to see everyone’s lovely smiles on campus or at upcoming events!
What do you know about the position you are running for?
What are some of the initiatives you would like to implement if you are elected?
Oki and Hello everyone! My name is Alejandro Figueroa, and I am running to be your next ULSU President. I believe in building a stronger sense of identity and belonging at the University of Lethbridge, ensuring that every student leaves feeling fulfilled, supported, and proud of their time here. Through collaboration, accountability, and wellness support, I want to create opportunities that enhance the student experience and strengthen our community.
My Pillars for a Stronger U of L:
Collaboration: With my extensive clubs background and connections on and off campus, I want to improve partnerships between the Student Union, clubs, faculty, community organizations, and student services to create meaningful engagement and better opportunities. Effective communication and proper support will help clubs thrive, services expand, and students feel more connected.
Accountability & Student Union Restructure:
I want to implement a clear guidance plan for General Assembly members and a sustainable workload strategy to prevent burnout among SU members and staff. Overwork leads to missed opportunities, event cancellations, and miscommunication—I want to fix that to ensure stronger events, better initiatives, and an SU that works for you.
Wellness & Student Support:
I will continue advocating for food security programs and supporting events that provide free meals for students. I will push for affordable academic resources, including open-access textbooks and free homework platforms, so students can focus on learning without financial strain. Additionally, I will work to expand mental health services by strengthening peer mentorship, increasing drop-in counseling access, and collaborating with off-campus organizations to bring in more resources.
Together, we can build a more connected, engaged, and student-focused U of L. Let’s make this campus a place where everyone feels supported, involved, and excited to be a part of something bigger. Vote Alejandro!
